Rotary International International President Gary Huang

Being a Rotarian is about a way of approaching the world and its challenges. There are many people in this world who need help and many changes that need to be made. It can be overwhelming.
Confucius and Rotary share similar ideas, and one idea from Confucius is that “It is better to light one single candle than to sit and curse the dark.” To me, this means that we shouldn’t lose hope and do nothing.Read more...

Article by Tony Thomas, Rotary Club of Central Melbourne Sunrise
Up and down Australia’s east coast, Rotary Clubs in August - September had an unusual visitor, a blond-haired 18 year old from Arnbruck in Bavaria.
He then asks politely if members would like to hear a waltz, march or jig on a traditional Button Accordion? He drags a chair to the podium and launches a tune thick with counterpoint and harmonics.Read more...

Popular wisdom accepts that people want to be a part of something bigger than themselves, to have a purpose that gives meaning to their lives.
Larry Kesslin takes popular wisdom a step further. Purpose, he says, is only the beginning.
Sharing your life’s purpose, connecting deeply with others—on a purpose level, not a surface level—is the key to unlocking the deepest joy in life.
Following on from the huge developments of the last couple of decades, Southbank Melbourne is now well known for its buildings, its fiery waterfront, its arts and its dining.
However for the residents who live here, the challenges of high rise apartment living, our walled communities, our transient population and our diverse range of people, the call for extra efforts to break down the barriers that prevent the Southbank community from truly engaging with each other have been heard and Rotary is joining with the community to do something about it.Read more...

It reminded me of what we have in Rotary - a support network, a group of friends, a family, a strength of unity of passion and purpose.Read more...
