Female TopGun Pilot to speak at Rotary

Special Guest Speaker at Rotary Club of Southbank

18th February, 2014, Boyd Community Hub

Born into a Navy family, Faye learned first hand the special lifestyle of a military dependent.  At an early age she began to plan for a career in the Navy, following in her father’s footsteps.  After graduating from Louisiana State University Faye received her commission in the US Navy where she earned the rank of Commander upon her retirement.

While serving as a Naval Aviator Commander Bell became the first female pilot qualified to land on an aircraft carrier in the Western Pacific fleet.  At this stage in her life she was not only serving on active-duty but was a military spouse and mother.  After retiring from the military and receiving her MBA from University of San Diego she founded Military Outreach Ministry a nonprofit organization that serves military families.  She is also an active Rotarian in the Carlsbad Hi-Noon club where she was the 2012 Rookie of the Year.

The program provides travel grants for teams to exchange visits between paired areas in different countries. For four to six weeks, team members experience the host country’s institutions and ways of life, observe their own vocations as practiced abroad, develop personal and professional relationships and exchange ideas. This year's GSE team is visiting Cambridge, UK. Find out more by attending this special dinner!

For 4 years, Rotary volunteers provide a well lit and welcoming place where visitors can take a break, get free refreshments, and maybe wait for transport home. The response is almost always positive and surprise that Rotary does this sort of thing.
